“The Method” – Diary of an Undergrad

July 2, 2018

Dear Diary,

Believe it or not, there is a method in my madness.

The semester is coming to an end, and that means one thing and one thing only.

That the midnight oils must burn, the long forgotten scribbles that call themselves “notes” must be fished out of the college bag and the brain must get ready to suffer a relentless onslaught of information that it should rightfully have received in small, tolerable doses.

Ahh…Exams…

There was a time when I was a young, innocent 10th grader, when exams were the scariest thing that I had to face. I used to be terrified even when I would be completely prepared.

More often than not, and I am not kidding (truly), my final preparation just before the exam would be the sixth or the seventh round of revision. And yet, my stomach would be tied up in knots always.

But all that was true, in the days of yore. ( πŸ˜‰ )

Now that I am an undergrad, the tables have turned. And how!

It is now less “sixth round of revision” and more “Arghh!! Six more chapters to go!!!”.

However hard I try to stay on top of things, there will always be that one class where the lecturer would have bored me to death and skipped all the topics by the end.

That’s when the midnight oil will have to burn, the scribble-notes will have to be fished out and my brain will have to resign itself to the onslaught that will be coming its way.

After the ordeal, though I will look like a drunkard who has had one too many, believe it or not, there will be a method in my madness, because the one thing about my experience with exams that has changed for the better, is that I am no longer scared of them anymore!
